Hidden spot in Seoul ; Sites and restaurants
I am a Seoul native in my 40s, born and raised here my entire life. Currently, I work in Investment Banking in Yeouido, often referred to as the Wall Street of Korea. Having spent my whole life in Seoul and meeting a wide variety of people for business, I have naturally built up a curated list of famous eateries and hidden culinary gems. This experience and knowledge have proven invaluable not only for business but in my personal life as well.
I am going to start posting contents themed around local food and travel for global travelers. Rather than focusing on places already crowded on popular travel sites or mainstream tourist guides, I want to share recommendations and hidden gems from the perspective of a true Seoul insider.
Korea is a country where trends change rapidly. Some of the places I recommend have maintained their stellar reputation for decades, while others are newly opened spots that instantly blew up among the younger crowd. I am not sure how long I will maintain these postings or how much help it will provide, but I would be truly happy if this becomes a wonderful space to connect and communicate with people I’ve never met before.
While doing business meetings, I have come to know many high-end restaurants. However, places like Michelin-starred establishments are simply too heavy on the wallet to pay for out of my own pocket. In Korea, people place high value on * 가성비* (Gaseongbi)—getting the absolute best quality and satisfaction for the price. Fitting this philosophy, I plan to post about places where you can be thoroughly satisfied without breaking the bank.
One unique aspect of Korean cuisine is the grill right on the dining table. Koreans love cooking meat together or preparing dishes directly at the table while sharing a meal. Most of the meat restaurants I recommend share this distinct characteristic.
